Admissions to Primary School
Parents are invited, through notices in the local press, schools and Nursery classes, to enrol pupils for P1 during the first week in November. The four parishes served by St. Peter’s include notices in their parish bulletins and the school gives details in the school newsletter. The Education Department communicates directly with families on their list.
Parents are not under any legal obligation to send their children to school until the session following their fifth birthday. Four year olds, however, may be admitted to school provided that they will be five years old by the end of February.
Priority is given to children who reside within the school’s catchment area. If you are from outside this area, you may make an application for a non district place at St. Peter’s. Forms for this purpose are available from the school and from the Education Office. Provided that a place is available, the application will be approved. In the case of P1 admissions, parents may have to wait until the end of the summer term before learning if a non-district place is available for the next session.
